Zambowood Elementary School

School Profile

  Zambowood Elementary School is located twelve (12) kilometers away from the city proper specifically, two (2) kilometers away from the national road of Boalan. It is one of the 11 schools under Putik District. It was established in 1973 with the name “Zambowood Primary School”. It started with four teacher only from Grades I to IV. The school got its name after Zambowood Plywood Product because it was the company who constructed the school building and donated the lot to the government. The total land area of the school is 8.878 sq. m. and there were

             In school year 1977-1978 the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) made a fund raising project and with cooperation of the Zamboanga Wood Product Inc. they constructed a small office and clinic with the light and water facilities and with many plants and trees around the campus.

             In 1993 Mrs. Esperanza F. Aizon was the Elementary School Head of the school. This was the first of Grade VI Closing Exercises with 430 pupils and ten teachers. The city mayor Vitaliano Agan donated 2 storey building with 6 classrooms to accommodate the two section per grade level from Grades I to VI.

                In 2001 , Mrs Aizon was promoted and assigned to another school. She was replaced by Mr. Bensali G. Hassan as school principal.

                 In 2004,  the school marked 2nd place in the NAT (National Achievement Test) in subject Mathematics in the Division level where the school  become known and was included in the 100 schools in the Regional Level.

                  In 2011, Mr. Floriano D. Lumagbas Jr. was the Elementary School Principal.  There were twenty nine teachers with 1, 436 pupils there were four section per grade level from Grades I to VI. Under Mr. Lumagbas administration there were a great improvement in the school. There were construction giant water falls, big covered court donated by Hon. Erbie A. Fabian. The school was adjudge as the 1st place winner of the Jardin na Eskwela Contestof the City-Wide Contest in 2011.

                In 2016, Mr. Floriano Lumagbas was transferred to Boalan Elementary School and was replace by  Mrs. Aleli C. Caringal as school principal. There were 35 teachers with 1, 500 pupils. Under the administration of Mrs. Aleli Caringal there were also a great improvement both academic and in school physical facilities like the construction of two storey building.  The school is competitive not only in the District but can join in the Division Level and Regional Level.
